<description>I checked up on the R.C.A.synthesizer about 5yrs.ago.According to the assistant direcector of electronic music at Columbia U.,the R.C.A.will eventually be incased in a walk-by display at Columbia! There are no plans to get the machine running again from what I understood as being a lack of time to make repairs. The R.C.A. synth uses tubes and relays and is very delicate. The only man who would probably use the R.C.A.is Milton Babbitt.
He has a piece of music that he never got to perform on the synth! The machine was damaged by vandals some yrs. ago
and some cables were cut and stuff like that.I talked to Peter Mauzey on-line and he said that the main reason for the machine not funtioning properly is,most probably, due to age.
