I updated to 10.3.9 not even thinking twice (like an idiot), and my Pro Tools 6.4 does not work. I am almost done with my band's album (9 songs, 9 musicians), and I can't record anything. I spend all night last night during a session trying to figure this out problem. Wasted an entire session. Everytime I tried to hit stop while recording, I would get a NeoAccess Error and what I recorded disappeared and did not save. The second time I would try, it would not let me stop recording, and I would have to close out the session. But when I tried to save and close the session it wouldn't let me save the session because of a NeoAccess Error. I am so sick of ProTools doing this to me and being incompatible with everything. I should just record in Logic, but its hard to beat PT's editing ease. DON'T UPGRADE TO 10.3.9.

Any suggestions on the easiest way to get back to 10.3.8. I think I'm going to have to reformat if I ever want to use Pro Tools again. Thanks Digidesign

Ya know I work at a mac software house and I can tell you that 10.3.9 has been available to developers for over a month. If this is true, and there has been no word from the Digidesign team, the fault lies with them NOT Apple. It's so frustrating to me as I can only suspect they didn't test or did but don't think enough of their customers to alert them of the issue with a projected fix release date. I guess I'll wait and see.

Yes, I agree -- my advice is primarily for Digidesign users. There's not much need for 6.9 as I said -- unless you're doing Avid video work -- and you should stick with 10.3.6 (or 10.3.8, I think that works okay). Slow Digidesign support for OS updates has been par for the course for years and years, so it's not news -- but worth a reminder. No reason to run out and get the new OS if you're running PT; play it cool.

As for the rest of us, we may well be able to early adopt -- this is looking smoother than I expected. Max/MSP will require an update, don't know if that's ready yet . . .

Watch for the "crazy early adopter report" shortly after 4/29, in which your editor jumps head first into the mouth of the tiger.

Or is that snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory? Never mind.

Reason 2.5, Logic Express 7.0, and Live 4.1.1 all working totally perfecto in Tiger.

Even more interesting? How about "Aggregate Audio Device" support (ie: gang up your external firewire interfaces into one virtual audio device addressable by the system for I/O) and Network MIDI support (of course, it works with Rendezvous^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^HBonjour). That new Audio MIDI Setup.app is just waiting to reveal this awesomeness to you.

IAC is still there, need to shake things out a bit more, especially in terms of rewire and actually using a MIDI device, but all signs are looking great so far.

And it's not digidesign has ever been swift with delivering minor updates to the minor OS bumps. We've stuck with 6.4 TDM under 10.3.6 because it's so super solid, and there have been no feature updates applicable to our work (though obviously some people with the Avid option I'm sure are happy for 6.9, most digidesign users shouldn't feel compelled to update to 6.9 if their setup is solid - if it ain't broke)
