Games + Music: Myst V Soundtrack Available

After CDM’s exclusive interview with composer Tim Larkin, we told you we’d let you know when the soundtrack to the upcoming game Myst V: End of Ages became available. Today’s the day: 17 tracks of orchestral game music from award-winning composer Tim Larkin.

The album has been entirely composed, arranged, and produced by Mr. Larkin, released by Cyan Worlds who we recently learned is not dead. It’s really great to see a game composer’s work supported in the way it has been on this game; hopefully it’s the beginning, not the end, of an age.

Symbiotic

I’m hoping to pick up a copy from Tim directly this weekend at the Seattle showing of Video Games Live.

I’ll hopefully have a review of the show (and possibly a separate review of the soundtrack) in the near future. Sadly, many of the VGL tourdates have been cancelled due to what can only be assumed to be low ticket sales. Hopefully Tommy and Jack will be able to pick up again in the new year with some more marketing. Meanwhile, I’m one of the few, the lucky, who gets to see it!
