another box, more bux, more layers of complexity, more latency, not future os-proof (buy another in 14 months, sorry, M$-intel-amd-mac is phasing out support for, blah blah, suckaz) how about REAL audio driver universality, asio, au, vst, open al, sample formats, etc. just a bunch of idjuts trying to grab your hard-earned bux for nothing KORE=Kinda Obvious Ripoff Eh? what's so universal about it?

I use plogue to control a bunch of soft-synths for live use. I'd certainly like the process of setting a rig up to be more user-friendly than it is in plogue, but I'm not sure that I'm willing to sacrifice the flexibility. Will Kore let me program my volume pedal to switch between simply controlling volume in kontakt, and rerouting kontakt's output through a moog filter in reaktor for wah-wah effects? This is the kind of control plogue has made possible, and I'm not ready to do without.

The biggest problem I've encountered is operating without a display. I hate opening up the laptop, it's too big and clumsy. A friend of mine just developed a program to display a little of the computer screen on my smartphone (when I get one!) which might help. Then maybe I can create a little display page in reaktor to give me some info on my current settings.

All pretty primordial so far.

Hear you, for sure. Lucky that you've got your SL25; I might get the 25-key just for programming use, etc.

I say, bring on more alternatives. What we've gotten in the computer market is a zillion me-too soft synths -- some of them very good, in fact, but certainly WAY more than we need -- while we've gotten almost nothing as far as playability and control. So I'm glad to see KORE and Remote SL coming at the same time . . . you could certainly use either one, or both. I'd just love to also see smarter MIDI assignments for all the rest of my gear here, some of which doesn't even need the LCD (heck, I'll remember which knob is which if I can keep it consistent).

indeed the novation sl appeals more to my needs than Core does. Thats why I already work with the SL25 since 3 weeks. Actually I like to have a look at my softsynth collection to decide which one I am going to use. That is my way of approaching it. First decide which AU then start tweaking to create a sound.
maybe i am old fashioned. I started in the 80 s with a ms20 and found myself surrounded by hardware at the end of the nineties. I then sold every pi9ece of hardware to replace it with every serious AU that is on the market now.
I had my thoughts about core from the day it was announced. It somehow reminds me of it s grandfather...the first 3 knob NI controller which was available 6 years ago.....
Nevertheless I am still open to be convinced.......but i am skeptical too..
