Review: Kirk Hunter Symphony Orchestra, 20 GB of Orchestral Samples That Don’t Kill Wallet, PC
Conclusion
As a reviewer, I am fortunate to get to experience some of the industry’s freshest sounds in the forms of sample libraries, but rarely do I find a product that fully lives up to its potential in terms of sheer value. I am happy to say however, that KHSO Emerald is a product that goes against the grain. Not only is this a fantastic sounding library, but it is well within the reach of even the most budget conscious composer. I don’t claim to have heard every orchestral sample library available today, but I have heard enough to know that KHSO would be a welcome addition to any composer’s arsenal – whether standing alone or as a sonic addition to some of the more well-known libraries in the industry.
After writing this review I was pleased to discover that Hunter had recently overhauled his website, which is now much more customer-friendly. In addition, a host of instrument updates, including several more LegatoLive instruments, are now available. If you’re in the market for a high-quality, and unique sounding library, I urge you to check out KHSO Emerald.

Among a host of other changes, the newest version of KHSO: Emerald includes improved documentation, updated file structures - which fix the ‘rebuild database’ issue noted in the article - LegatoLive implementation, and several instrument updates. Excellent review, a good way to kick off the new site.
And this sounds like quite a deal; as soon as I get a steady income, I think I’ll invest in this.
What’s the percusson section like? Could you perhaps post some samples?

The percussion is not the strongest section of the library - but more than adequate. The rest of the libary is exceptional at the price - especially the strings - and the new upgrade which includes chamber strings makes this an absolute must have - even if you have other libraries already.

Yes, there are quite a few ’slide’ articulations, in addition to the LegatoLive implementation. Depending on what type of effect you’re going for, I’m sure you’d be able to find something that would work. The full listing of samples/articulations is available here.
