I love the idea of these outboard fader/control boxes. Why not include a trackball and cinch the deal, I ask? Less on the desk is more.

The ribbon is used as a scroll and shuttle tool. There are videos from NAMM and AES for both the alphatrack and the faderport on these pages If you want to check them out.

Andrew, the same company makes the Tranzport, which is wireless and has a jog dial, etc... a wireless Alphatrack would be cool, but I'll settle for the wired version. Wait until January?? Oh man...

This kind of product has been a long time coming. Now if someone would come out with this is a wireless version with actual shuttle / jog dials, like the shuttlepro. The ribbon controller sounds nice though, I wonder how it is in practice.

It's quite an interesting case study in product design when you see them next to each other, isnt' it?

I quite like both of them - with Presonus rocking the minimal, industrial thing, and Frontier doing something more modern, softer and sexier.
The ribbon controller definitely snatches victory for the boys in blue. I wonder if it can be assigned to more than just the scrubbing?
