my post before didnt go through i guess.

i say screw MS and UMG, we take up a collection (i’m in for $20) and buy a couple of these babies to give to the rockbox.org developers, and/or some other OSS firmware hacking group.

if MS wants to be a loss-leader, let them. i’ll gladly buy their hardware and hack it for a portable wireless fileserver slash video player.

I’m not from PR, but its on slashdot so it must be true ;-) :

David Geffen, the media omniboss, is quoted: ‘Each of these devices is used to store unpaid-for material…’ The new business rationale is that stolen music should be paid for by profit sharing of newly sold Zune music players.
