All of this looks great, you really know what your doing! How you deliver it on stage blows my mind. Come back to STL soon or I'll be back in Santa Cruz March and summer so maybe come play? oh and a little advice, next time you should keep your eyes on the keys rather than my eyes, you might mess up one of these days :)

[...] I recently read this article from CDM about one of the guys from Sound Tribe Sector Nine and his custom-built double Monome controller. I didn’t even know what a single Monome was, so I looked it up on YouTube. I think I might want one sometime in the future… [...]

[...] The new wooden enclosure (black walnut) looks gorgeous; the faceplate remains aluminum. I wonder if some will actually prefer the fewer-button design; if so, you’d better act quickly before they run out. Of course, this being open hardware, with a little work you can build your own custom model, as we saw here. (See Building a Custom Monome Controller, with STS9’s David Phipps.) David’s unit went with a rectangular rather than square configuration. [...]

[...] Monome is a small collective from Philadelphia who create beautiful designed open source hardware. Currently, they updated their productline. Available now are the “two fifty six”, the “one twenty eight” and the “sixty four”. All controllers exist of a box with square knobs (with the “two fifty six” having 256 knobs, the “one twenty eight” 128 … etcetera), called keypads. More information can be found on monome’s website. Prices for these boxes range from US$ 450 to US$ 1400. Only 100 units are to be made, so if you’re interested, don’t wait too long! UPDATE: A tutorial on how to build your own custom Monome can be found here [...]

Hi dp... an amazing article, I just picked up an Akai MPD24, but if I knew that the monome existed I would've waited and got one. However, My question is, it looks really hard to assemble, isn't there anywhere I could pick up a built one?
and also, can the monome be used like an akai MPD24 .. basically like a drum pad?

Im also using live 6.0.7

would love to know some info .
