@Lost: That's truly lovely. Those C64 cases keep getting nicer and nicer.

@dead_red_eyes: Excellent questions! And to be honest, I'm not sure I have all the answers yet. But any VJ app uses MIDI, so that tells you there are pretty unlimited ways of automating things or triggering things. I've been a bit hands-on lately but it's giving me ideas for how to automate things, so it still feels live / synced and I can even get hands-on if I like, but it'll also do its thing while I'm playing.
Great writeup Peter, wish I could've made it down there.

Resolume seems really cool, and I wonder if I should get into it. I'm all about having live visuals, and usually our friend brings his 16mm abd 8mm projectors down and just does film loops for us. This is cool and all, but I can't imagine him doing that stuff on tour with us. So I've been wondering if I should buy a projector, and then maybe just make videos for each song we're playing ... or if I should buy a projector and get a program like Resolume. I play guitar, keys, bass, and sing ... and I kind of wonder how the hell I'm supposed to be able to swing with live video stuff ... don't you have to be hands on with Resolume, or do you program stuff there?

I don't have Ableton Live 6, I kinda wish that I did these days as it seems to be what everyone is using. I program our beats/percussion in Reason 3.0, then I take throw that into Digital Performer 5 and then start to record stuff from there. So our live shows are pretty much sequenced, and I can just concentrate on playing guitar, keys, bass, singing ... without having to worry about triggering every sample/track. I was thinking, hey if I'm using Digital Performer, then maybe I should just craft a video to each song, and they could synch up (like what Cornelius does) but I really don't think that I've got the ability to do such a thing.

Anyways, my crazy rambling aside ... I'd love to hear about your use of Resolume live Peter. I know how hard it is for people to get into electronic/laptop based music ... and I know that most people dont care about visuals, but it seems to help if you ask me.

We didn't get much for Edinburgh, unfortunately -- I did get a basic sampling of Starpause for you, at least. But I think there are big recordings of Robotspeak; I'll post them once they're up.

I'm working on better video production capabilities for CDM in the near future. :)
