On the surface it looks slick but it appears that Sibelius 5 has been released without proper testing or with key features completed. Be prepared for polite evasions and excuses from Tech support. My advise is to wait for six months until they actually finish the development and bug fixing. Then, if it is all working properly, upgrading will be a safe thing to do.

$600! you should try living in the UK the price point for the non academic is just under $1200!!
I don't understand how they can maintain such a price differential it is scandalous.

What kind of new music changes is there? I hadn't really seen anything about that.

I'm really dissapointed in the lack of graphics support... I really thought they were going bump it up this time. But, like they say, they're not photoshop... so I'll guess I'll keep exporting to photoshop. Not really sold on the upgrade yet... I will if the ideas hub makes up ideas for me... oh wait!

I've been a Finale user for many years and I really prefer to work in the scroll/panorama mode. You can focus on the music and worry about layout later.

Also, check out NoteAbility Pro (http://debussy.music.ubc.ca/NoteAbility/index.html) it is mac osx only but has some fantastic features that I think make it superior to both Finale and (the little I've seen of) Sibelius.

RE: this merging of audio software and scoring software has been a long time coming.

Geniesoft's Overture has had VST support for a few years. Windows only though.
