Thanks, bliss! We're glad you enjoyed it. I agree about presets - many times it is nice just to be able to sit down and compose, rather than spend endless hours tweaking just to find the right sound.

On a side note, Peter and I have been trying to find ways to get better coverage and trackbacks for these types of interviews and reviews. If you've got any ideas, send them our way!

Informative interview, Brent! Nice to have the resources to create a sample library like Roget's. I typically take existing sounds from existing libraries and tweak those, mangle those to death. That's if I'm feeling original. Sometimes, especially lately, I've been enamored with presets. There are tons and tons of great presets available. Many of them I've never heard used in tracks. As far as artistry goes it really is more satisfying and rewarding to "roll your own" sounds, but there's something good to be said for all of the existing hot joints that are being packaged with software instruments. It makes sense to be efficient and use what's at one's immediate disposal, and still there is plenty of room and incentive left to build your own libraries.

I really enjoyed this interview. Insight plus how-to all-in-one. Thanks! ;)
