Enjoyed playing Synesthete. Crayon, a tad bit less hectic, is a lot of fun as well.

Myles, music is realtime but composition often isn't. Loopers and drum machines blur the line. I'd love to see more intention in music games, realtime or not.

(I play real instruments, but I've always had a certain amount of contempt - right or wrong - for 'virtuoso' musicians lacking a creative urge. Without intent, what's the point?)

A turn-based strategy, would that be trading musical riffs or something? Music is a real-time form and so it suits more "real-time" game styles I'd say.

I think you forgot Cinnamon Beats:

I have a hard time figuring out what the crux of the idea is but it seems like something between a drum machine and the Incredible Machine. Could be fun if the game mechanics click right.

I've been thinking a lot about offline "tweak-oriented" music games lately, as opposed to most of the current ones that rely on reflexes and realtime performance. It seems to be an area that's largely been ignored so far. How about a turn-based strategy game that relies on music as the core part of the game idea, hmm?
