In some sense I get the feeling they're playing catch-up here, so I'm a little skeptical of the description of Sonar as technically "unparalleled" in any broad sense. Many of the problems they say they've fixed here - serious audio engine stutters when playing with the GUI (resizing tracks) or enabling the metronome being the showstoppers for me - have been absent in other hosts for years. Anyway, I really am glad that Cakewalk worked on this stuff - they may yet tempt me back with all of the Producer Edition goodies. Point is, SONAR 7 worked just fine with Vista. SONAR 8 works better. I love what someone like Roger Linn can do with hardware design, but Linn's work has also impacted software designs that wouldn't be possible with hardware. You really don't *need* to know this. I just like to know what's happening under the hood. In this case, not supporting all of this will still allow Windows music software to run; the point is, this will work even better -- precisely so you can get to making music.
