And yes, Richard, Tom, there will be more. I think there’s tons of potential here … we appreciate the net lag team trying this on for the first time, and I think the rest of us learned a lot from that.

On the subject of software, well worth checking this out. I just used the default, Flash-based mogulus interface for my set, but Jaymis went in more depth with Adobe’s free tool, which also interfaces with mogulus. It allows streaming directly (without one of these services, if you so desire), and provides finer control over encoding:

Netlag: Vapour Trails will hopefully be the first of many net-events :-) We're running the show using Mogulus which is a flash based live video encoder/broadcast system. It's free and runs in a web browser on Mac or Windows. You can use it to stream video and audio from your webcam, a dv camera or video files you've uploaded to the system.
