MPC60s are 1st class, the bomb, deluxe. One may not need a Cadillac to cruise around in, but it sure feels nice. They ooze quality and are unmatched even today. 3000s are nice to, according to taste.

Tom Oberheim's Marion Systems still exists? That's news to me. If only the MSR-2/ProSynth project had not dropped off of the face of the earth.

I hope the new redesigned LinnDrum II has a slot for installing a HD. Compact flash drives tend to get the pins messed up with a lot of use.

Considering the typical working lifespan of an MPC, I think they should really be thinking "is this going to still be working in 20 years".

mpc60's and mpc3000's where always out of reach due to their high cost and even used pieces are scoring high prices so i opted for an s900 with the Tom Oberheim 16bit mod board and an s1000.
right now all i do is sample to either one and then record the audio outputs to my mac or laptop. i'll use audacity, recycle, or sound forge to extract kicks, snares, and other noises. then dump it into ableton. i have a small resource page for my s900 over here http://xfader.com/akai

There's no *news* on the LinnDrum II, but as they announced previously, Roger and Dave plan to release later this year. I know there were delays before as they rethought the whole product, but I can say confidently, this is a date they're actually aiming for.
