Propellerhead Hosts Producers Conferences in US, UK, Germany, Sweden Saturday

A quick note – this weekend, Propellerhead is running part of its ongoing series of Producers Conferences, educational events focusing on music making with their flagship tool. It’s really about production, not just about Reason per se; looks like the previous installments have been quite nice. There are some really terrific artists in the lineup, and significantly, our sources say some big news will be announced live at the event. If anyone plans to attend and wants to cover that, do let me know.

Here’s the lineup:

Los Angeles May 9, Musician’s Institute, Hollywood. Bon Harris, Kevin Teasley, Gerry Basserman, Kurt Kurasaki

New York City May 9, Clinton Recording Studios. Ben Weinman, Aaron Albano, Chris Griffin, Chris Petti

Guildford, UK May 9, Academy of Contemporary Music, Guildford, Surrey A Guy Called Gerald, Alex Blanco, Gary Bromham.

Berlin, Germany May 9, Kulturbrauerei Berlin, Prenzlauer Berg Simon Grey, Philippe van Eecke, The Green Man.

Stockholm, Sweden May 9, Propellerhead Software HQ Eric Gadd, Pär Wiksten, Joachim Ekermann, Jonas Löfvenmark

FutureMusic already said that a new DAW is to be announced:

A DAW? I’ll have to wait and see because I LOVE all of props products, but if it’s a DAW in a PT/Logic/Cubase sense isn’t this like 5+ years too late?

Whatever it is I’ll surely buy it but I’m kind of in a Logic/Ableton zone for DAW stuff and I primarily use Reason in Rewire mode, though lately I’ve returned to sequencing in Reason for a few projects.

Props usually do stuff that’s different so I guess I’d be shocked if it was a DAW in a classic sense.

Maybe a DAW that is to Reason what Reason is to Rebirth… so huge and amazing but something is missing…

I was hoping that when the stopped supporting Rebirth, that now unused “portal” would be used for something like a DAW. I think a DAW from Reason is gonna be special, with that reason spirit. It will probably fit the long time Reason user like a glove, and I can’t wait to see what sort of instruments and samplers it will surely have. I expect revolutionary. Something much more immediate than most other DAW’s, and probably loaded with live performance features and potential.

Yes, based on their track record I’d imagine it would be along those lines.

It’s kind of like, what if they made Recycle into a Ableton Live-like DAW (with multi tracks), where if you have Reason it plugs right in and you get the midi sequencer. All that Recycle technology could obviously be leveraged… That’s kind of what I’d expect them to do, but you never know.

It could be something more amazing and new than that even.

I just think they should integrate Recycle and Dr. Rex into one streamlined sampler tool, much like Maschine or Drum Racks.

THEY BETTER DELIVER CAUSE IF NOT I AM DONE WITH THEM FOR GOOD.I USE ALL OF THEIR PRODUCTS.BUT CAN YOU IMAGINE THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE THAT WOULD SHIFT FROM CUBASE TO REASON IF THEY DID VST AND AUDIO.A WHOLE NEW DAW TO ABODONE REASON THAT KIND OF SCARY I CANT WAIT TO SEE WHAT THEY COME UP WITH.I AM LOOKIN AT STUDIOONE NOW WHICH LOOKS PROMISSING.NOW I GOT TO HATE CUBASE WITH ALL THAT DONGLE CRAP WHICH FREZEE MY PC AT TIMES

There has been no public information from Propellerhead. The problem with running rumors or breaking embargo is that you can fail to get a complete story. I think FutureMusic (not related to Future Music Mag, btw) may have included a disclaimer. Unfortunately, you may have to wait until Monday for more information.

Why Monday Peter? The event is this Saturday.

And I’m actually going to a blues festival, of all places, that day. Is there any chance the information will be available in the morning?

I have breaking news from Stockholm.

Since Propellerhead’s likes to keep to the whole RE thing, (Reason, Recycle, Rewire, Rex, Remote, etc), they have decided that the future of electronic music production will be a highly advance modtracker. It will support VST and will easily integrate into any workflow. It even supports the .RNS format. The name….

RENOISE
