Barring discussion about Live, this will make a fantastic full featured remote for Logic when I am working at my main keyboard (which is not directly in front of my computer.) I already use a Compact SL as my secondary controller but it will be great to have a mini-control console sitting on my M3 while I am composing. It’s always a pain to switch positions when I want to change tracks etc.

Can’t wait!

Yeah, absolutely — it’ll be interesting to see what happens. What I love about iPhone is its glass surface and the quality of the touch experience and tracking. It’s really quite nice. Now, how that scales to bigger devices, or what we might see from other vendors, I just have no idea.

also worth mentioning is the rumor going around about apple releasing a netbook/media device that’s similar to the ipod touch, only larger (but smaller than a macbook). such a device, if iphone/ipod touch apps can be extended to it, would make running a live set using this and ableton quite fun. and very much like using a lemur; only cheaper (most likely) and you can use it for tasks in everyday life.

anyway, cool stuff. i’ve wanted to use the osc controller to check sound in venues in my monome/max/msp based rig for a while now (but just haven’t). great to see something similar for the Live folks.

Right, the problem is Apple doesn’t *allow* public betas, effectively, because you can’t directly distribute software you’ve written on their device. This is hugely helpful on Android (among other platforms): you instead get the ability to download and install any file you want (that’s without rooting / jailbreaking / anything like that).

I’ll have to see if I can write a similar remote for Android. :)

I’m afraid this Beta release of Automap for iphone requires a pre-arranged and unique pairing with an iphone, so only a limited amount of beta users will be able to test this release. Apologies to the rest who will have to unfortunately wait for the full release. Best regards. M.

Ok, does the phrase “Mount the attached volume “Automap_iPhone-1.0b1.dmg”, which contains two seperate files – “Automap_Testing.mobileprovision” and “Automap.app”” refer to a file attached to the original email from Novation? I was hoping to test this puppy out.
