hi all, thanks for all your comments,
as its a beta it will crash certain systems, just like the 1st betas of live 8!!
it would be great if you could post info on our <a href="www.mabuse.co.uk/forum" title="forum" rel="nofollow">
with type of computer, OS X version etc (or if possible post a crash report), so we can then try and isolate cause of any crashes.
You're right its less of a vj tool & more of an AVJ tool - if you just want to trigger higher res video over MIDI then Resolume or Arkaos (amongst others) are worth looking at, but we were looking to create a tool which was easy to use & easy to integrate & also cheap (< £20). I use 320 X 240 movies for our vj sets on a different version of Mabuse, and it looks awesome fullscreen!! Its no different to people deliberately using lo-fi sounds or equipment for a certain aesthetic.
If anyone does anything cool with it, then please let us know, and we'll link to it from our site.

@dj pippins I think this is more just a rough proof of concept, not a complete functional plugin. Also the idea seems to be less focused on vj performance, and more on YouTube mashup/remix kinds of stuff.

I do not understand, the reason, or use of this. If the video needs to be downgraded to such and extent, it can't be used for good VJ display, even at full screen. Why can this not use normal HS.264 or a normal video file?

@Robotkid,
I got it to work with live8, but just as well as with live7, which meant not playing any video.
