About W. Brent Latta
Born and raised in the small town of Joseph, Oregon, W. BRENT LATTA has been making strange noises for nearly 30 years. Not one to be bound by definition, he enjoys composing in a wide variety of styles and genres. In addition, he enjoys designing soundscapes, effects, and ambience for many various applications.
Brent’s skills as a composer, sound designer, engineer, and producer have been used to fulfill a wide variety of roles. He has composed numerous soundtracks and soundscapes for theater and dance, as well as several short films and animated featurettes. In addition to composition, he has been a composer and performer of electronic and pop music for several years, both as a solo artist and part of several bands in the Seattle area. Most recently his contributions have been in the realm of remixing, where his electronic duo, Zero Crossing, has gained recognition in the underground EBM/Synthpop scene with remix credits for such artists as Glis and Assemblage 23.
Brent draws inspiration from numerous game and film composers and musical artists, yet strives to find an independent voice and character in his music. Brent uses a variety of tools for composition and has an extremely broad base of application knowledge and expertise. Brent is also a talented performer, with brass, voice and percussion training in addition to various ethnic/world instruments and vocals. Brent is a gainfully employed as a sound designer and composer for Amaze Entertainment. He is Contributing Games Editor at Create Digital Music, where he contributes news, commentary, and reviews of hardware, software, and Game Soundtracks.
