Pimp my Ableton Controller: Custom Keyboards, Custom Paint Jobs

In November, Bill Van Loo showed off his custom-painted Apple QWERTY keyboard for controlling Ableton Live. He’s been painting again, and has now completed his live Live rig with a beautifully-painted Peavy MIDI fader unit. Peavey PC1600x MIDI controller re-paint [Flickr set] Detailed, step-by-step instructions and an explanation of how this all fits into a music gig: adventures in spray paint, plywood and velcro: my new controller board And all of this fits atop a sizable MIDI keyboard and Line 6 PodXT Live on the floor. NAMM Music Gear Gallery on CDM flickr Pool; Post Your Photos or Enjoy Ours

Josh Jancourtz took some great photos for us from the floor of the Anaheim Convention Center at the NAMM show, because you can never see drool-inspiring gear from too many angles. Reed Ghazala, the father of circuit bending and a truly unique artist, sends along the wacky world of his paintbox, now upgraded for the Web 2.0 age as a flickr set. He writes: “I just put up a flickr gallery your patrons might like, fulla all kinds of Make-ish (and Mac-ish) stuff. “Maybe your online visitors will like (see Waits’ megaphone, Incantor diagrams, modded cameras, weird ideas, experiments, etc.).” I expect you patrons will like it. “weird” and “bizarre” do get included as tags, so at least you don’t have to feel like only you think it’s a bit strange …
